Iowa offers several homeschooling options. Homeschooling by Independent Private Instruction is described below.

Reading, math, language arts, science and social studies.

    No requirement.

The school district can request information in writing.

If so you will need to provide a letter stating the primary instructor (likely the parent), name and location of the authority responsible for the school (usually your name and home address and the names of the students enrolled).

    Not under the IPI track.

The Homeschooling by Annual Assessment Track does.

    Iowa has several homeschool tracks.

While IPI (the least burdensome) does not allow for extra-curricula activities, the option for Homeschooling by Annual Assessment does.
