Arkansas EFA Report: 16,541 Homeschool Students Used Education Freedom Accounts
Local Homeschool News: Arkansas
Arkansas homeschoolers are a big part of the state’s Education Freedom Account (EFA) program. A new annual report on the 2025-26 school year shows that participation jumped from 14,256 students in 2024-25 to 44,524 in 2025-26. Of those students, 16,541, or 37.15 percent, were homeschooled. The report was written by researchers at the University of Arkansas in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education (2025-26 EFA Annual Report).
Homeschool families used their accounts for approved curricula, tutoring, enrichment, and supplies. The program’s network has grown to more than 3,200 approved vendors and service providers.
The report also looked at test scores. On nationally normed tests, homeschool and microschool students in the program scored, on average, at the 65th percentile in math and the 70th percentile in reading.
Looking ahead, 65,036 students applied for 2026-27 and 55,649 were approved. As of September 15, 49,773 students had received funding, with more awards expected. Approved students in 2026-27 receive a base award of $7,208, and former Succeed Scholarship students receive $8,011.
